What is the CBSE syllabus for 2026-27?

The CBSE syllabus for 2026-27 covers Class 1 to Class 12 in 5 stages: Foundational (Class 1 to Class 2), Preparatory (Class 3 to Class 5), Middle (Class 6 to Class 8), Secondary (Class 9 to Class 10) and Senior Secondary (Class 11 to Class 12). The CBSE school year runs from April to March, in 2 terms. CBSE board exams are held at Class X and Class XII. The pass mark is 33% at every stage. In Class 12, students study English and choose the rest from 19 subjects, including Physics, Chemistry and Biology. When does the CBSE school year start?

It starts in April and ends in March. Term 1 runs from April to September and Term 2 runs from October to March.

Which classes sit CBSE board exams?

Class X and Class XII. In every other class, the school sets and marks its own exams.

What is the pass mark in CBSE?

33%. It is the same at every stage, from Class 1 to Class 12.

Which subjects are compulsory in Class 10?

English, a second language, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Art Education and Health and Physical Education. Each school decides which languages it offers.
