Grading, the way Tamil Nadu State Board grades
The academic year runs June to April. Each stage gets its own scale, and marks entered once become the gradebook, the progress card and the parent's screen.
| Stage | Scale | Grades | Pass mark |
|---|---|---|---|
| Primary | State board gradesA default to check | A+, A, B+, B, C, D | 35% |
| Middle | State board gradesA default to check | A+, A, B+, B, C, D | 35% |
| Secondary | State board gradesA default to check | A+, A, B+, B, C, D | 35% |
| Senior Secondary | State board gradesA default to check | A+, A, B+, B, C, D | 35% |
The year's assessments, already planned
These arrive with their weights, so the term result adds up without a spreadsheet beside it. This plan is a common pattern rather than the board's prescribed one; change it to match yours.
| Term | Assessment | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Quarterly Term | Unit Test | 16.7% |
| Quarterly Term | Quarterly Examination | 16.66% |
| Half-Yearly Term | Unit Test | 16.66% |
| Half-Yearly Term | Half-Yearly Examination | 16.66% |
| Annual Term | Unit Test | 16.66% |
| Annual Term | Annual Examination | 16.66% |
